Bevier at Brashear January 11, 2008

The Tigers pick up a pair of victories in Tri-County Conference action Friday night.

After suffering a 1 point loss to LaPlata Monday, the Lady Tigers wanted anything but a slow start against conference rival Bevier, but 8 first quarter points from Bevier's Katelyn Tolle and sloppy ball handling had the Tigers down 10-0 early on and trailing 14-6 after the first quarter. After that, the Lady Tigers fired up and started their comeback with a 19 point 2nd quarter, 11 coming from Christina Scudder. That strong 2nd quarter allowed them to tie the game 25-25 at half-time. The Lady Tigers also came out strong in the 2nd half and led 38-29 after 3 quarters on their way to a 48-41 victory. Christina Scudder and Hailee Kelsey were both in double figures for Brashear with 15 and 10 points. Both had double-doubles with 14 and 13 rebounds. Emily Ladwig added 8 points, Stephanie Elsea scored 7, Jessi Hill had 6, and Caroline Slavin scored 2 points. Bevier was led by Chandra Shurvington with 14 points, Katelyn Tolle added 12, Stephanie Ashenfelter had 6, Emily Griffen had 5, and Samantha Templeton scored 4 points.

The boy's contest saw Brashear explode with 32 points in the 1st quarter to take a 32-12 lead and the Tigers were up 61-27 at the half-way mark. Brashear continued their run in the 3rd leading 85-42 after 3 quarters on their way to a 97-51 win. The Tigers had 5 players in double figures. Kale Watson led with 23 points, Trae Treasure added 18, Ryan Ferdig had 17, Kiley Watson scored 12, Justin Hazen had 10, Matt Thomas chipped in 8, David Anderson had 4, Anthony Ambrosia had 3, and Adam Songer scored 2 points. Bevier was paced by Brian Shelmadine with 26 points, Jesse Shelmadine had 5, Dalton Livingston, Matt Peter, and Brandon Smith scored 4 points each, and Michael Templeton, Jake Cress, Andy McGhee, and Andrew French scored 2 points each.
